About four years ago, Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) announced ambitious plans to electrify its portfolio, promising to launch six electric vehicles (EVs) by 2026.
The plan included transforming Jaguar into an entirely electric brand, as well as launching at least one EV for the Range Rover, Defender, and Discovery lines. However, with 2025 approaching, none of these models have hit the market yet, although tests have taken place.
The expectation now is that the first electric Range Rover will be released in the second half of 2025, followed by an ultra-luxurious Jaguar in 2026, and later an electric Defender, whose adaptation is facing technical challenges.
The Range Rover Electric, which has already undergone rigorous testing in the United Arab Emirates, will be the brand’s first EV to hit the market. Equipped with advanced traction control and thermal management systems, the vehicle promises superior performance, including almost instant torque response. Over 48,000 people are already on the global waiting list.
The next release will be a Jaguar luxury model, with prices estimated between $157,350 and $209,800, aimed exclusively at the super-wealthy.
As for the Defender electric, its launch will take longer, possibly until the end of the decade, due to the complexity of its adaptation.
